Is there anything more tedious than rock stars whinging about how they feel trapped by their fame? Don't think too much because the answer's no. Is there anything more distressing and depressing than musicians that you love spitting bile and bitterness towards their ex-bandmates, with whom they once made music that filled you with hope and joy and dreams and tears? Probably, but I don't want to think about what. It's made worse when such bitching is done over such a good song, and when it's backed with an even better B-side like "The Man Who Came To Stay" it's staggering drunkenly towards the door marked "tragedy". In fact, if you look in Webster's, this CD is found somewhere under "bittersweet". -Ian Martin, Dec.23.04
