There's undoubtedly a lot lost in the transition from the sparkling live performance to this demo CD, but then that's to be expected. How do you translate a towering, rake-thin, shoeless transvestite screaming into your face onto disc anyway? What we do have here, however, is five tracks which reveal a latent tunefulness and pop sense that is sometimes overshadowed by the dirty rock and roll stage antics. Like all good glam rock bands, Kegawa No Mari's are basically a pop group like what kids listen to; they even have a song called "J-Pop", just in case you hadn't noticed. Also, like all good glam rock bands, most mothers would thoroughly disapprove, and would probaby have kittens if their precious firstborn came home one day after taking fashion tips from these subversive rock and roll scoundrels. Good work, chaps; go forth and corrupt! -Ian Martin, Oct.20.04.
