"Yoake (Studio Demo)"  The Positives  Release date: 2004

Quite how you go about writing up a band who have already gone so far as to take one of your previous reviews and put it on a t-shirt I'm not sure. The first step I guess should be to reiterate what it says on the t-shirt, namely that this is a whole lot of heavy garage blues interspersed with rather more melodic and epic moments. Then I think I might expand on that by adding that there's also some neat wah wah stuff going down in the wig-out department. The four tracks on display here cover the full range of the band's sound and there is an extravagantly extended jam hidden at the end as well, that serves to highlight their strongest point: the sheer messed-up, wacked-out, couldn't-give-a-fuck, messy yet tightly focused thrill of three of the coolest looking guys in Tokyo just freaking out in a room for your pleasure, ladies and gentlemen, for your pleasure. -Ian Martin, Sep.04.04.
