That's right, another spinoff from pseudonym-magnet Brilliant Green vocalist Tomoko Kawase. Tommy Heavenly is the "dark side" of the confectionary-loving Tommy February, which seems to mean that she dresses like Avril Lavigne, sings through a vocoder and makes blander, more guitar-heavy pop music. In fact, not that "dark" at all. Tommy February's dark side was always apparent, the exploding cheerleaders of "Every Day At The Bus Stop", the multiple boyfriends of "Je T'Aime Je T'Aime" and the obsessive undertones of songs like "ChOOSe mE or Die" all render the insipid statements of "Hey My Friend" irrelevant.
The two songs on this CD are actually so bad that they might as well be by the Brilliant Green, with the title track bearing an uncanny resemblance to their supreme moment of big hit awfulness "There Will Be Love There". If you like this kind of inoffensive wank then go ahead and enjoy, but don't come crying to me when your kids realize how lame you are and murder you in your sleep. -Ian Martin, Jun.06.04
