The lead track off this Yamagata band's three track EP is the killer with its odd, circular waltz-time bass line, histrionic vocals and staccato guitars that drop in and out of the song according to some set of rules that only Kentarou Sato knows. Elsewhere, "Haisuiko" is a bit too conventional to sit comfortably in the company of the other tracks but "Uchu Yuei" is unsettling and engrossing with some great wailing falsetto vocals and more eerie stabs of guitar set against a backdrop that sounds like the twisted cousin of the Knight Rider theme. -Ian Martin, Sep.04.04.
