'60's influenced + psychedelic + melodic + "wacky" lyrics about spaceships = new single from young Liverpool band. Slight similarities with The Coral make it easy to see why Deltasonic were so keen to pick up this band but that's no criticism. The Coral are catchy, eclectic and exciting and these are the main ways that The Zutons resemble their celebrated neighbours. "Pressure Point" begins with some nice "Waooo-hoo-hoo!" noises, builds and builds, then starts freaking out and freaking back in again like The Creation after six nights on the Red Bull. That it remains as tight as it does is thanks in part to Liverpool scene veteran Ian Broudie's sterling work behind the desk but if their forthcoming album "Who Killed The Zutons" maintains the level of quality of "Pressure Point" and the more laid back and traditional B-side "Beggars And Choosers" then it will be something very special indeed. -Ian Martin, Mar.27.04
